About JOHN J KING

John J King is a Texas-born, New York educated, writer-director and visual artist currently surviving in Revere,
MA as a freelancer of all flavors.

He has acted and directed professionally for the past 10 years, in New Mexico, Texas, New York and
Massachusetts. Living in Boston for the past three years, King has begun to earn a name in the local scene. His
plays have seen public readings at Boston Playwrights Theatre, and production at the New England Fringe
Festival. Various productions have featured such noteworthy Boston actors as Paula Plum, Bob Pemberton, Anne
Gottlieb, Liz Hayes, and Daniel Berger-Jones.

In May of 2008, John was accepted to attend the Kennedy Center Summer Playwriting Intensive, as part of the
highly selective Advanced Program. Late that summer, John's new short play "Martha's (b)Rainstorm" was
produced by the Orfeo Group in Boston's FeverFest, an annual collection of experimental theatre.

As a director, King has received good notices for his work with Alarm Clock Theatre at the Boston Theater
Marathon, and at BTW UnBound 2007. In the fall of 2008 he directed the world premiere musical "The Tsarina's
Harp," at Concord Academy, produced by David Gammons.

John is currently engaged in several projects, including several painting and photography projects which will soon
be posted on this site and for sale online. He is finishing a new one-act play about obsession and secrets, entitled
SOD'S ODDS. Meanwhile work continues on his dramatic trilogy casually based on the lost middle years of Jesus
H. Christ. And John is looking forward to a delightful break from all this work when he directs the American Girl
Fashion Show and Tea Party at the Plimoth Plantation this Spring.
