Vanity Fowl follows the woes of Rupert J Pucklechurch, one of the world's renowned mystery writers, as he struggles with his latest opus. While trapped in a horrific writers block, Pucklechurch meets a strange creature: a Mockingvole who feasts on paper, particularly rejected draft pages. One morning Rupert discovers the bird has rearranged his manuscript, adding considerable improvements. His imagination stirred, he completes the work: his biggest seller yet. But he's haunted by the knowledge that the work was not all his own.
